One in Seven Middle-Aged Adults Has Hearing Loss

Researchers in Madison, Wisconsin have discovered that 14% of middle-aged Americans have some sort of hearing loss. For those aged 48 to 59, that percentage jumps to around 20%, and for those 80 years old and older, the percentage skyrockets to 90%. The University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health research study included 3,285 subjects from 21 to 84 years of age.

Loss of Vision – Causes

Aside from the common eye disorders that can happen in one’s life, other loss of vision causes can materialize.  Loss of vision causes much heartache and many mistakes, therefore we must continue to educate ourselves and be prepared for any type of vision loss.  Normal changes in our eyes as they grow older may include losing focus, trouble driving or seeing at night; and difficulty reading or doing detailed work in low light.
Other loss of vision causes that should be noted are:

  • Side effects to certain medicines
  • Eye infections due to bad hygiene, damage, or glandular problems
  • Trauma to the brain’s vision area
  • Weakened eye muscles (known as ‘lazy eye’)
  • Lack of crucial vitamins and minerals
  • Inherited and genetic problems

Regardless of the cause of vision loss, it is imperative that you Find a Doctor and schedule a vision examination.  You only have one set of eyes; do not ignore the signs of vision loss and consult an ophthalmologist or optometrist today.
